How to Clean The Outdoor Furniture?

Outdoor furniture is more likely to catch dirt and germs than the indoor one. The furniture that is left to be eaten by dirt and germs can not live longer. So, cleaning the outdoor chairs and tables is crucial as it’s more vulnerable than the indoor furniture.

Several DIY methods can be used to dish out the new look. Let’s find out how the outdoor furniture can be managed to perfection!

Remember! Every furniture item requires a different type of cleaning. What works for wooden furniture may not be as useful for iron or aluminum ones. So, let’s begin discussing how each case can be cleaned.

Cleaning The Wooden Outdoor Furniture

Commercial wood cleaners are of great help in cleaning the wooden outdoor furniture but if you do not want to spend a huge amount of money on cleaning the furniture, these two DIY solutions have got you covered.

To Remove Grime;

  • Get a mild oil-based soap
  • A container of lukewarm water
  • Mix it well.

Remove the grime with this DIY grime remover and gather the following ingredients to bring the furniture into a better condition;

  • ¼ cup of ammonia
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar
  • 1-quart warm water

Mix it all well, apply it with a piece of cloth to make the furniture look better.

Cleaning Metal, Iron, or Aluminum Furniture

Cleaning metal, iron, and aluminum furniture are more or less the same. First of all, remove as many imperfections as you can, then mix the following ingredients in equal proportions to make a solution;

  • White vinegar
  • Water

Vinegar has excellent cleaning properties and it’s cheaper than the other cleaning materials available in the market. Mostly commercial pool furniture is made with aluminum or iron material.

Pro-tip; Paint it often to Keep it as New as Possible.

Cleaning The Glass Furniture

Cleaning the glass furniture is easier than most of the wooden and aluminum furniture.

  • Wash it off with a detergent or dishwashing soap
  • Leave it to dry
  • Spray white vinegar or glass cleaner
  • Wipe it away with a paper towel or microfiber cloth.

It is recommended to cover the glass furniture when it’s not in use. Keep repairing it from time to time with the glass repairing kit.

Cleaning The Plastic Furniture

Plastic furniture, like the glass one, should be washed first. If the furniture is not that dirty you may not need to make any cleaning solution but if it still looks dull, arrange these ingredients to make a solution;

  • ½ cup of baking soda
  • 1 gallon of lukewarm water
  • 3 tablespoons of detergent containing a small amount of bleach

Mix all these ingredients and spray it with a sprayer and then wash it off with the normal tap water.

Do not use the above-mentioned solution on white plastic furniture. The white plastic furniture can be cleaned with water and white vinegar solution.

You can also clean the plastic furniture by either sprinkling the baking soda on a wet sponge and dampening the cloth in distilled white vinegar to wipe the dirt off.

DIY cleaning solutions are not as effective as commercial ones but they can be used to give the outdoor furniture a noticeable glow.
